Project A.R.N.O.

year: 2024

The art project for the sculpture A.R.N.O. was conceived at the beginning of July 2024. The name “A.R.N.O.” is symbolically derived from the protagonist of the dystopian novel “1999” by Borislav Pekić. In the story, Pekić explores the dangers of artificial intelligence, the collapse of spiritual values, and ecological catastrophe, particularly focusing on the issue of technological and non-degradable waste.
The sculpture A.R.N.O. is crafted from iron, plastic, silicone, aluminum, and wire, with discrete lights integrated into its structure. It represents a dynamic visual composition where multimedia components are interconnected. The sculpture depicts a scene from Pekić’s novel in which the mutant Arno, the last man, is surrounded by robots amidst a metal junkyard as he exhales. Above the sculpture, a small hanging object symbolizes the artificial landscape that A.R.N.O. gazes upon as he dies.
