Hotel Serbia

year: 2015

The Hotel Serbia project is a collaborative work carried out by Milica Raicevic with two young architects, Djurdjica Terzic and Emilija Sajic. The project was created for the Prague Quadrennial 2015. The Serbian Pavilion’s theme was based on Kafka’s novel “The Trial”, and it symbolically presents Serbia as an old, cheap, and ruined hotel. The hotel is described as a transit point where people only stay temporarily, and the only staff are servants. The art installation includes a performance and is located in a room with three main elements: a schematic representation of human sacrifices made of transparent plexiglass, a red light sculpture representing the human heart, and metal cages with stones representing an altar. The performance in this space imitates the actions of officials and executioners.
The project was never carried out in public.
